Single piano "C4 note" sample

That is the name of the sample used to create not only all the sounds in "The Apartment", but also all of the music! I wanted to learn FMOD for a while, and when I incorporated it into the engine I was writing for this game, I started by just messing about with all of the effects and techniques that FMOD Studio had to offer. The pitch-shifting tools are great and are obviously what makes these sounds what they are - but the Scatter Instrument is what is used to create the semi-random music tracks that are audible in the background. The Scatter Instrument will fire notes, with parameters that can all be randomized. So for the intro music that is played in the main menu, randomization and LFO's (low frequency oscillators) are set for parameters like pitch, time, and panning, giving it that sound of big bells. Final compression and distortion effects, plus some reverb, give it a sound I think is pretty cool.  

I'm a big fan of FMOD - the interface of FMOD Studio is familiar for someone who has spent time in another DAW like Logic or Pro Tools, and the multiple built-in effects and instruments sound pretty good. And how wonderful it is to be able to create music and sounds so quickly - FMOD really is an instrument in itself! Very much looking forward to experimenting more - creating soundtracks that adapt to what the player is doing in a game seems like they will be much easier to create with tools like these.
